How to Help Your Introverted Friends

Note: This is a 90% humorous post I did because of all the craziness right now. I do not mean to poke fun at either introverts or extroverts.

During this time while most of us are at home, you may think this is an introverted person's dream. And... you'd probably be right. But it's hard on them too. Libraries are closed. There are no coffee shops to just work and chill in. There's a bunch of things that are hard on them, so here are some things you can do for your awesome introverted friends.

1. Send them snail mail.
This is a fun, non-face to face way of showing them you care, and giving them something to brighten their day. Try putting in a poem, story, quiz to do together, or really any small flat object to make it more fun!

2. Get them coffee (or tea).
They could probably use a good cup of coffee or tea right now with all the stress. So send them a gift card to their favorite coffee shop, or send them some coffee beans/tea bags.

3. Share a book with them.
Since introverts are all busy doing their cool introverted things, they are probably running through their book supply pretty fast. So, send them a recommendation, or send them a book.

4. Do a no phone challenge together.
Do a challenge not to use your phone for the whole day with them. Not only it'll this give y'all a fun thing to do together (whether you're in the same place or not), it also gives y'all a chance to unplug from other people and social media for a day. Believe me, you will both enjoy it.

5. Encourage them to go outside.
Being faced with the happy prospect of not having to get out for a while, your friend may tend to forget to get outside. Remind them they can just take their book outside. =)

Thank you for helping keep all the awesome introverts happy! Comment below with your favorite thing to do for introverts, and come back for a virtual fistbump for when you've done something off the list!

February Highlights

Hello everyone! This is a rather late Highlights post, but seeing as I do these as much for me to look back as y'all, I thought I'd go ahead and post it. =)

My awesome friend Kate and I finished reading the last The Mysterious Benedict Society book together. We had a great skype, which resulted in our co-writing a post about buddying reading. You can read my post here, and her's here.

One of my favorite kids from my babysitting job fell asleep on me. <3

I had the pleasure of being on the Never Say Goodbye Beta reading team for Sarah Grace Grzy. I cannot wait until this book comes out because it was amazing!

Me and three of my older siblings all ended up playing board games together until 11:00 at night, despite the fact that we all kept saying we needed to get to bed. Staying up, trying to be quiet, and just hanging out was just about the best.

One of my three babysitting jobs got canceled, and I got a new job helping watch dogs. It's been a pretty nice change, since my old job was forty-five minutes away, and the new one is only five. I have missed some of the kids at my babysitting job, but am enjoying the new schedule.

My phone went completely haywire. Now the audio only works half the time, and I can't make calls at all. But I'm working on finding a new phone. Until then, I'm able to make due just fine.

My sister and I went to a thrift store and ended up coming out with three games. We found a new set of Taboo (because we've practically memorized all the words from my set. ;D), Mousetrap, which I hadn't played since I was about ten, and a Blue's Clue's board game that I used to play as a toddler. We will always be kids at heart, no matter how old we get. ;)

We don't normally do a lot for Valentine's, but this year I wanted something fun, so we got balloons, chocolate, made sugar cookies, and chocolate-dipped strawberries. We had homemade pizza and watched Overcomer. Since the main character is born on Valentine's Day, it seemed appropriate.

The Bible study I attend (Bible Study Fellowship) had a game night. I honestly didn't think I'd have a ton of fun when the night started, despite getting to go bowling and roller skating again. It was a little hard to keep up with people as we went from one thing to the next, but right before we were going to leave, a few of us did one last game of bowling and it was just about the best. We were laughing, and having so much fun it was hard to leave.

I went on my first train trip! We saw/met some pretty interesting people and had a great time. We also got our car back, which we had lent to some friends months ago. =) I wrote more about the trip over here.

I participated in a reading challenge where I read eleven books. I came really close to not finishing due to work, and family stuff, but at eleven-thirty, with the deadline half an hour away, I finished. It was really fun to participate and felt epic to finish so dramatically by finishing off two books that night so close to the deadline. ;D

For once, the majority of the books I read were new. I really can't pick a favorite. They were all so amazing. *Heart eyes*

How to Help your Extroverted Friends

Note: This is a 90% humorous post I did because of all the craziness right now. I do not mean to poke fun at either introverts or extroverts.

Dear Introverted people,

We've heard a lot about how to care for you recently. Because awesome people like y'all deserve to be taken care of. But recent events have been rather trying for many extroverts of the world, so it's time to give back to that outgoing person you befriended.

First Things First: Text them.
Make sure your friend knows there are still people out there and that they are not alone. Text them now, and two hours from now, and tomorrow morning. They are going to want to hear from you.

Second: Do a video call.
Nothing cheers an extrovert like actually seeing their friends face. Since meeting in person is hard right now, video chats are the way to go. Believe me, your friend would probably love to tell you all about their week, or just eat cheesecake with you virtually.

Third: Remind them of all the things they could get done.
In a world full of people to talk to, sometimes extroverts have trouble remember they have things like laundry, writing, or cleaning to catch up on. Remind them of that stuff. It will help keep their mind off of the lack of people around them.

Fourth: Watch a movie with them.
Get the same movie, sync it up, and chat via text, phone, or video call while you watch! This is a great way to hang out and chill to. (I believe on Netflix you can watch a movie with someone else easily).

Fifth: Encourage them to get outside.
Sunshine and grass will be good from them. Believe me, they will appreciate the reminder.

Alright, now once you've done any or all of these things, comment below for my virtual high five. Thank you for helping take care of a lonely extrovert today. If you've got any more ideas on how to help an extrovert, or you think I should do an introverted side to this, comment below and tell me!

T R U S T

I was going to do my February highlights, but I decided to do a bit of a follow up to last week's post with some verses about trust. These are some that I am finding extremely comforting right now.

All verses are in NIV.

Isaiah 12:2
Surely God is my salvation;
I will trust and not be afraid.
The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense
He has become my salvation

Psalm 62:5-8
Yes, my soul, find rest in God;
my hope comes from Him.
Truly he is my rock and my salvation;
He is my fortress, I will not be shaken.
My salvation and my honor depend on God c ;
He is my mighty rock, my refuge.
Trust in Him at all times, you people;
pour out your hearts to him,
for God is our refuge.

Psalm 9:10-11
Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Sing the praises of the Lord, enthroned in Zion;
proclaim among the nations what he has done.

Psalm 56:3-4
When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
In God, whose word I praise—
in God I trust and am not afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?

Psalm 26:3-4
You will keep in perfect peace
those whose minds are steadfast,
because they trust in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord, the Lord Himself, is the Rock eternal.

If you're looking for some good songs for all the craziness that is going on right now I recommend Fear Not My Child by Carmen and Close by Switch.

Our God is greater then the highs and lows. He is greater than any virus, and this is all under control. I am praying for God's people to boldly share His love in a time when everyone needs it so much.

F E A R

Fear
Is just another word for doubt

Doubt of God's ability
Doubt in His goodness
Doubt in His love

We fear what will happen to our lives
We doubt He will work it like we want

We fear death
We doubt the good in store

We fear illness
We doubt God's goodness

We fear wars
We doubt God's divine plan

We fear our own insufficiency
We doubt God's good creation

We fear so many things
We doubt God so many times

So what would it look like
If we stood firm in our faith
and chose to trust?

Because Faith
Is just another word for trust

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go
Joshua 1:9
